The CFLOAA Annual Golf Tournament sponsored by Manulife was held on a very pleasant August 1st at the Hylands Golf and Country Club on the North course. Everyone enjoyed the golf and, most of all, the camaraderie.
The event was again co-ordinated by Board member Gary Page, Dan Dever was also on hand for the Registration to greet all the golfers. The morning began again with Tim Hortons coffee and Timbits donated by Alumni member Bill Houldsworth and his family (owners of 2 Tim Hortons). Dan also took charge of the Timbits!

The Redblack’s foursome included Dru Brown and Lewis Ward, as well Marc St. Pierre (our Alumni Co-ordinator) and Courtney Huestis (Manager Marketing Activation).

Jeff Avery was our superb MC, and Mike Sutherland, former CFL player for 10 years including his last 3 years with the Renegades, and the PA announcer at TD Place gave a great speech about the key is to make the playoffs with momentum since a great regular season success record, based on his career, often does not lead to playoff success.
Two Highlights of the day were:

Pat Stoqua’s foursome including Bruce Walker, Greg Clarke and Tim Robinson again had the lowest score. The LOFT (Lack Of Fing Talent) winning foursome included Alumni members Bob Brien, Chuck Wood, Ron Artelle, and their guest Derek Johnston.
The individual hole prize winners were:
The 2025 raffle was very successful thanks to 54 donated raffle prizes highlighted by 2 OTTO’s Club packages from the Redblacks ($578 each), 2 Executive Golf 2026 memberships ($599 each) and an Eagle Creek foursome (with carts) from ClubLink ($450). Other items for the Raffle and for the Golf on-course contest winners were donated by, MCAP, Richard Hanoski, Bill Gosewitz, Mortgages Made Easy, BLG Law firm, St. Louis Ribs (Kanata South), Local Heroes, Hometown Sports Grill, Convergint, Ken Vargo, Canadian Golf & Country Club and Stu Cameron.

Funds from the Raffle go to support the football programs at the University of Ottawa, Carleton University, and to the Support Fund of the CFL Alumni Association. The Support Fund offers financial support to CFL alumni who are experiencing financial hardship due to a medical condition or the sudden loss of income.
A good time was had by all!
