The 2024 season has the Ottawa Redblacks celebrating their first 10 years. The All-Decade team was introduced on August 24th at the game versus the BC Lions. These are the best players in their position since the team’s inception in 2014. Many returned to the Capital for this event and a good number still play for the team.
A pre-game reception was held on the Civic Centre rink an hour before kickoff. Our alumni were invited by the Redblacks to attend. It was great to see so many of the best Redblacks players back at TD Place. Among the many alumni present it was great catching up with Jon Gott, SirVincent Rogers and Moton Hopkins. Jon recently joined the Ottawa Police Force (and shaved his iconic beard!), SirVincent is the Boys Athletic Co-ordinator at Iowa Colony Junior High in his home state of Texas, and Moton is a Human Resources Business Professional in Fort Worth, Texas.

The 30 All-Decade Redblacks were honoured at half-time. They were welcomed onto the field by two of our alumni: Bob McKeown representing the Rough Riders and Marc Pilon representing the Renegades. Bob remarked on the incredible size of the linemen and just how happy all the players were to be back on the field. There are certainly many great memories for these great athletes, including the 2016 Grey Cup for most of them.
