Barrymore Moton, a former CFL defensive end, passed away on March 7th at the age of 62. Barrymore was a graduate of Peoria Manual High School, served in the United States Army, graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, he also received the “Ironman Award” from Illinois State University. He played professional football in the Canadian Football League (CFL). Barrymore was a member of Kappa Lambda Chi (KAX Nl-ZO SMR 24 “War Machine”) Veterans fraternity. He worked at Paradise Casino, the Children’s Home and Juvenile Detention Center.
Barrymore was known for his Neo-Mache’ Art sculptures, comprised of 100% recycled, archival paper derivatives. These priceless art pieces were created in the likenesses of NFL Hall of Famers such as Eddie Payton, Walter Payton, Deacon Jones, Lawrence (LT)Taylor and Fred Biletnikoff, most of whom Barrymore met, had autographed and purchased his art pieces. He also created African art and sculpture pieces depicting ancestral figures from historical events.
Moton played for the 1989 Ottawa Roughriders during the 1989 season. He played in 2 games and had gone to college and played four years for the Illinois State football team.
