The 2024 Legends Luncheon was well-attended and an excellently organized event. The sold-out venue at the Vancouver Convention Centre welcomed CFL alumni from across the league. Cory Philpot and Jamie Taras were named co-winners of the CFLAA 2024 Alumnus of the Year Award and J.R. LaRose was selected as the 2024 CFLAA Indigenous Champion. Michael Collymore and Tom Pullen represented Ottawa, and both had a great time! Special thanks to our own Dick Dinelle for the wonderful pictures. Here is a link to a video of the crowd at the event:
The CFLAA Legends Luncheon has been held during every Grey Cup Week since 2009. It’s an opportunity for alumni to gather, reminisce, and catch up. It’s also becoming a fan favourite event. But more than that, it’s the main fundraiser for the CFL Alumni Association Support Fund. The fund was established to extend financial assistance to fellow alumni facing economic hardships due to medical conditions or sudden income loss.
This year’s event was the final Luncheon overseen by CFLAA Executive Director Leo Ezerins. After co-founding the association in 2009, Leo has directed the group for the last 15 years. His efforts were celebrated with a presentation by CFLAA President Bob Bronk and all CFLAA member alumni groups. Here is a link to the video presentation for Leo at the Luncheon:
Thanks to Leo for all he has done on our behalf and best wishes for a long and happy retirement!
