Warrenden Teachers earned the City Senior Basketball crown by defeating Ritchies Sports Rough Riders, 76-69. Bob O’Billovich led the Riders with 24 points. Bill Van Burkleo chipped in with 16 points.
Note: -In a little known fact Bob (Canadian Football Hall of Fame) was recruited to the University of Montana as a basketball player. He was a three sport star as he also played football and baseball.

Ottawa Rough Riders signed their first choice in the Canadian College Draft, Carleton University’s Bob Eccles. He is a 21-year-old linebacker and stands 6’-2” and weighs in at 225 pounds. On the same day, he was named Carleton’s outstanding graduating athlete at the end of the year athletics banquet.

Former Ottawa Rough Riders’ receiver, Pat Stoqua, was named Carleton University’s Athlete of the Year at the university’s Athletic Department’s awards banquet. Malcolm Inglis, another former Rider, was named Carleton Ravens’ outstanding lineman.

Radio Station CFRA and Ottawa Rough Riders’ President, Terry Kielty, announced that John Badham would be the new voice of the Rough Riders. He replaced Ernie Calcutt who passed away in January of a stroke. Badham will also take on the role of Sports Director of the station.
